We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, and highly motivated General Manager to oversee the daily operations at the LAB. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the shop runs smoothly, meeting customer satisfaction, managing a team of mechanics, technicians, and customer service staff, and driving business growth. The General Manager will play a key role in maintaining high standards of service, managing budgets, inventory, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • 21 Years of Age or Older
  • CLEAN DRIVING RECORD - Please state if you do not have one
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Able to Commute to North Haven, CT for work
  • No Felonies - Please state if you have one

  • B.S in Business Management or related field
  • Proven experience as a General Manager, Shop Manager, or in a similar role in the automotive industry
  • Strong knowledge of auto repair, customization, and modification processes
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to build and maintain a motivated team
  • Strong customer service skills with an ability to manage and resolve customer concerns
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to learn and improve

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Business Strategy
    • Take direct guidance from owner and accountant to align with the company’s strategic goals and priorities
    • Ensure all requests made by team members are completed promptly and efficiently. This includes tasks such as picking up lunch, delivering parts, making store purchases, and handling drop-offs at UPS/FedEx.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by ensuring employees are motivated and supported
    • Track key performance indicators related to sales, customer satisfaction, employee performance, and shop operations, making adjustments as needed to achieve the business goals
    • Regularly evaluate shop processes and systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to increase efficiency, quality, and profitability
    • Develop and implement, in collaboration with the sales team, strategies to increase customer retention and attract new customers
    • Contact contractors as needed, for any issues that arise at the shop
    • Oversee the seasonal decorations and visual merchandising of the shop. Coordinate and implement creative displays that enhance customer experience
    • Build strong relationships with local dealerships to establish mutually beneficial partnerships. Negotiate and structure contracts to ensure a steady flow of work by providing high-quality services for their vehicles
    • Oversee the onboarding process for new hires. Provide necessary training and support to help them integrate smoothly into the team and understand the company culture and operations

  • Customer Service
    • Prioritize customer satisfaction by addressing their needs and concerns promptly
    • Answer phone calls, handling customer inquiries and forwarding to the correct department if necessary
    • Check all emails daily, respond, and/or forward to the correct department
    • Check CRM and respond to inquiries daily
    • Greet customers warmly when they enter the shop, promptly responding to the doorbell. Provide an inviting tour of the space, ensuring they feel welcome and comfortable. Offer snacks and refreshments to enhance their experience, and introduce them to our membership program, highlighting the benefits of immediate access to the upstairs lounge.
    • Monitor and respond to Google reviews in a timely and professional manner, addressing both positive feedback and any concerns with courtesy and attention

  • Facility and Inventory Management
    • Monitor and fulfill / ship out any online orders we receive
    • Restock all clothing and accessory inventory items as needed
    • Restock snack bar, water bottles, and fridge as needed
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by ensuring all areas of the shop are consistently tidy and well-maintained
    • Supervise the janitorial staff to ensure all cleaning and maintenance tasks are completed to standard. If any tasks are not completed, take initiative to address and complete them yourself.

  • Event Management
    • Collaborate with the events team to plan, organize, and execute events, ensuring they are well-coordinated and successful. Focus on driving engagement and creating memorable experiences that attract customers and promote our business
    • Plan all LGND winner days by contacting the winner, arranging travel, and all details associated, to ensure a successful winner day
